APA Jazz Fellow Dan Tepfer to Perform at Jazz Kitchen
INDIANAPOLIS (September 22, 2008) – The 2007 American Pianists Association (APA) Cole Porter Fellow in Jazz, Dan Tepfer will return to Indianapolis for another award-winning performance. The Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis welcomes the Dan Tepfer Trio for two shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Raised in Paris, France in an American family, Tepfer started classical piano studies when he was six and soon began to explore improvisation on his own. In college, he majored in astrophysics before switching to jazz piano for his master's at the New England Conservatory in Boston. He lives in New York City and tours internationally with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Richie Barshay. Dan was named the APA Cole Porter Fellow in Jazz at the conclusion of the Jazz Fellowship Awards in April 2007. The fellowship is worth $75,000 in cash and career support for two years.
