Pianist Emmet Cohen, an exceptional improviser and composer, puts his inspired quintet at the service of South Bend's touring jazz scene and Notre Dame's Collegiate Jazz Festival. Known for being the creator of Live from Emmet's Place, an extraordinary weekly livestream series with a world-class array of swinging improvisers, it's guaranteed Cohen will concoct a program as eclectic and as vibrant as his headlining gigs at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Village Vanguard, and Birdland and electric festival appearances at Newport and Monterey. During a very jazzy weekend at DPAC, the quintet doubles as clinicians for the Collegiate Jazz Festival, wrapping up working with young musicians before the big show's curtain rises on a freewheeling journey through multiple musical worlds.
