Michelle Cann in Concert

Sunday, May 15, 2022
Indiana Landmarks Center

Our season concludes on a high note with Michelle Cann weaving works by Black female composers Margaret Bonds and Florence Price with pieces by Romantic composers Brahms and Chopin. A champion of the music of Florence Price, Cann made her orchestral debut at age fourteen and has since performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Cleveland Orchestra. She will perform Price’s “Fantasie Nègre No. 1 in E minor” as well as “Troubled Water” by Bonds.

Chopin: Ballade No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47

Brahms: Ballade in D major, Op. 10, No. 2

Price: Sonata in E minor

Clara Schumann: Quatre Pièces Fugitives

Price: Fantasie Nègre No. 1 in E minor

Bonds: Troubled Water

Please note that audiences will be subject to the COVID‐safety policy of Indiana Landmarks on the date of the event. We will communicate all requirements in a pre-concert email.
